Real Estate Appraiser Trainee - Real estate appraiser trainee means any person who has been issued a license by the board to appraise properties under the supervision of a licensed general real estate appraiser or residential real estate appraiser.

Education Criteria - Seventy-Five (75) hours of academic instruction, which includes 30 hours in Appraisal Principles, 30 hours in Appraisal Practice and 15 hours of instruction on the mandatory course, National Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP).  

Experience Criteria - None Required

Examination Criteria - None Required


General Certified Real Estate Appraiser Qualification Criteria -  General certified real estate appraiser means a person who holds a current, valid license issued to him by the board for appraisal of all types of real estate regardless of complexity or transaction value.

Education Criteria - One hundred eighty (180) classroom hours of approved courses in subjects related to real estate appraisal which shall include 15 hours of instruction on the mandatory course, National Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP).

Experience Criteria - A minimum of 3,000 hours (300 credit points) of appraisal experience obtained over a period of three calendar years (36 months).

Examination Criteria - The education and testing requirements for a license as a General Certified Real Estate Appraiser must be satisfied prior to submission of the application for experience review.  Candidates must successfully complete the General Certified Appraiser Examination with a passing score of 75%.  Click on the following link to register, with PSI, for the exam: http://www.psiexams.com


Residential Certified Real Estate Appraiser Qualification Criteria  - Residential certified real estate appraiser means any person who holds a current, valid license issued by the board to appraise one to four residential units, without regard to transaction value or complexity, and perform appraisals of other types of real estate having a transaction value of two hundred fifty thousand dollars or less.  This includes the appraisal of vacant or unimproved land that is utilized for one to four family residential units.

Education Criteria - One hundred twenty (120) classroom hours of approved courses in subjects related to real estate appraisal which shall include 15 hours of instruction on the mandatory course, National Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP).

Experience Criteria - A minimum of 2,500 hours (250 credit points) of appraisal experience obtained over a period of two calendar years (24 months).

Examination Criteria - The education and testing requirements for a license as a Residential Certified Real Estate Appraiser must be satisfied prior to submission of the application for experience review.  Candidates must successfully complete the Residential Certified Appraiser Examination with a passing score of 75%.  Click on the following link to register, with PSI, for the exam: http://www.psiexams.com
